„Anew” to projekt dokumentalny zapoczątkowany w 2012 roku o współczesnym krajobrazie Dolnego Śląska – ziemi, która przeszła w ręce polskie po II wojnie światowej. Jako część tzw. Ziem Odzyskanych, region doświadczył przecięcia ponad tysiącletniej historii i potrzeby ponownego napisania jego tożsamości, w dużej mierze w ramach zorganizowanego wysiłku propagandowego. Zasiedlony przez repatriantów i migrantów, wielokulturowy Dolny Śląsk szybko stał się ważnym ośrodkiem przemysłowym PRL, a z czasem również ważnym ośrodkiem oporu wobec władzy komunistycznej. Współczesny Dolny Śląsk to nie tyle pojedyncza narracja, co scena, na której rozgrywają się liczne, często sprzeczne scenariusze historii. Przez dekady region był jednocześnie zapleczem gospodarczym, symbolicznym trofeum, znakiem zapytania i tymczasowym domem dla fal przybyszów. Dolny Śląsk to region, w którym tożsamość była nieustannie pisana od nowa i zmieniana – gdzie każde pokolenie tworzy nowy scenariusz, jak żyć w przeszłości i jak wyobrażać sobie przyszłość. „Anew” bada ten splot mikrohistorii. Projekt w 2025 roku został nominowany przez Fotofestiwal w Łodzi do prezentacji na europejskiej platformie Fundacji FUTURES, na której został rozpowszechniony online a także podczas wydarzeń związanych z fundacją m.in. Łódź Fotofestival 2025, Off Festival Arles 2025 i Fotograf Festival Praga 2025.

Abstract EN

"Anew" is a documentary project launched in 2012 about the contemporary landscape of Lower Silesia – a land that fell into Polish hands after World War II. As part of the so-called Recovered Territories, the region experienced the intersection of over a thousand years of history and the need to re-write its identity, largely as part of an organized propaganda effort. Settled by repatriates and migrants, multicultural Lower Silesia quickly became a major industrial center of the Polish People's Republic, and over time, also a significant center of resistance to communist rule. Contemporary Lower Silesia is not so much a single narrative as a stage on which numerous, often contradictory, historical scenarios unfold. For decades, the region was simultaneously an economic base, a symbolic trophy, a question mark, and a temporary home for waves of newcomers. Lower Silesia is a region where identity has been constantly rewritten and reshaped – where each generation creates a new scenario for how to live in the past and how to imagine the future. "Anew" explores this intertwining of microhistories. In 2025, the project was nominated by the Fotofestival in Łódź for presentation on the European platform of the FUTURES Foundation, where it was disseminated online and during events related to the foundation, including Łódź Fotofestival 2025, Off Festival Arles 2025, and Fotograf Festival Prague 2025.
