Abstract PL
Abstract EN
The Polish media system has been struggling for years with a crisis resulting from political polarization, state interference perceived as a restriction on freedom of speech, ownership changes in the media market, and those driven by technological progress. In many countries, media self-regulation mechanisms—such as ethical codes, press councils, and news ombudsmen—serve as a remedy for the decline in media quality by increasing transparency and professionalism. However, in Poland, these solutions are either underdeveloped or ineffective. The aim of this article is to analyze these mechanisms and explore the possibilities of their implementation in Poland to improve journalistic standards and restore public trust in the media.
