Abstract PL
Abstract EN
This study aims to examine the predictors of the psychological adjustment of sojourners in Mexico, focusing on acculturation, individualistic and collectivistic values, contact and social interactions, language proficiency, and sociodemographic characteristics. The adjustment was operationalised as subjective well-being, measured as satisfaction and ill-being. The study focuses on international students, expats and retirees (N = 363, 66.7% women) having lived in Mexico between six months and 10 years (M = 3.38; SD = 2.67).The results of linear regression analyses show that age is the best predictor of the level of adjustment. The study sheds light on the predictors of sojournersâ well-being in the specific and often overlooked context of migration to a collectivist country, i.e. Mexico.
