dc.abstract.enTe monograph views the history of American slavery and its legacy. The author examines the misuse of the power in America focusing on the treatment of African Americans within the last three centuries. He focuses on such issues as, for instance, slavery itself, the horror of lynching, segregation of the races in connection with the Civil Rights Movement, in other words, such activities whose purpose was to still keep men of color in certain kind of bondage or to re-enslave them.
dc.abstract.plMonografia poświęcona jest niewolnictwu w Stanach Zjednoczonych Ameryki oraz spuściźnie niewolnictwa w wymiarze kulturowym, literackim i historycznym. Omówione są m. in. takie zagadnienia jak niewolnictwo, przemoc, lincz, niewłaściwe sprawowanie władzy przede wszystkim przez białych mieszkańców Stanów Zjednoczonych, segregacja i zrównanie praw wszystkich obywateli Stanów Zjednoczonych. Niewolnictwo odcisnęło swoje piętno na wszystkich tych zagadnieniach.

The author examines the misuse and abuse of white power in America and focuses on the treatment of African Americans within the last three centuries. Since the author sees slavery as some wider phenomenon, he focuses on the Ku Klux Klan activity aimed against African Americans, the horror of lynching, American penal system, segregation of the races in connection with the Civil Rights Movement; in other words, those activities whose purpose was to still keep men of color in bondage or to re-enslave them.</jats:p>
