Abstract PL
Abstract EN
School bullying is a serious global issue, causing both immediate and long-term consequences encompassing somatic health, mental health, and the overall level of well-being. Despite the increasing number of studies on the phenomenon, the reported effectiveness of anti-bullying programs is far from satisfactory. In this chapter, we focus on specific issues related to the interaction between research and practice, highlighting areas of risk and potential for improvement. Assessing our knowledge in terms of effectively altering the real-world trajectory of the phenomenon, we analyze how certain theoretical conceptualizations and operationalizations affect the possibility of reliable measurement, and consequently, the effectiveness of practical implications. We present the consequences of discrepancies between researchers’ approaches, highlight the potential link between the limited efficacy of anti-bullying interventions and insufficient integration of existing knowledge, and finally conduct a conceptual analysis of the potential of the salutogenic approach, which might fill gaps in existing anti-bullying solutions.
