This data set consists of interviews with Korean monks conducted on 12 and 13 October 2024. The interviews were carried out in order to gain insight into the ritual of sending the souls of dead animals and plants to the afterlife (dongsingmul cheondojae). This research was conducted as part of the author's research trip to South Korea, as part of the MINIATURA 7 grant titled "Animal Death Rituals in Korea," a project funded by the Polish National Science Center (NCN). The data set includes two interviews (PDF): one with Venerable Hyeonjong, the abbot of Hyendeok Temple, and one with Venerable Wongyeong, the abbot of Simgok Hermitage. The interviews were conducted in Korean and subsequently translated into English by the author.
