dc.abstract.enThe right to privacy is provided for and protected in many countries already at the constitutional level. It includes several aspects, in particular the right to protect honour and good name. Honour and good reputatin were already protected in Ancient Rome, based on regulations concerning the tort called iniuria. Over time, it included more and more acts, secured by both civil (private) and criminal sanctions. They constitute the basis for contemporary regulations. Both Roman law and contemporary laws allow for some restrictions on the protection of honor and good name.
