Abstract PL
Abstract EN
This article presents the development of the legal property personality of persons alieni iuris. Initially, these people did not have it at all, therefore any property they acquired fell to their pater familias. This situation began to change from the classical law period. The emperors gradually granted property capacity to persons alieni iuris in connection with their military service and property called peculium castrense. In post-classical law, it was extended to alieni iuris persons performing state offices, church functions and other specific professions and their assets referred to as peculium quasi castrense, as well as other assets acquired by alieni iuris persons regardless of the pater familias, the so-called peculium adventicium (bona adventicia).
