Abstract PL
Abstract EN
Behavioral sciences may provide empirically tested knowledge on how different psychological or environmental factors influence human decision-making and other behaviors. Especially in Post-Truth Era, behavioral insights may become of extreme usefulness in the domains of public management, administration, and public policy. Although there is a growing interest in infusing knowledge from psychological sciences into research on public policy, the connection between psychological and policy sciences is still scarce. In this chapter, authors explore what characteristics of so-called bounded rationality may underlie post-truth processes, elaborate the taxonomy of psychological determinants and try to show what are the main cognitive traps, a decision-maker in the roles of policy-maker and policy-taker can fell in. Furthermore, this chapter discusses debiasing strategies and good practices alleviating the effects of biases and heuristics such as various behavioral interventions popularly known as nudges or boosts.
