Hiszpańska pisarka Carmen de Burgos, znana również jako "Colombine", była nie tylko dziennikarką i reporterką wojenną, ale także wielką podróżniczką zainteresowaną poznawaniem innych krajów i kultur. Wśród jej podróży po Europie wyróżnia się pierwsza wyprawa po Francji i Włoszech, którą odbyła w latach 1905–1906 i którą opisała w swoim dziele "Viajes por Europa. Impresiones". Carmen de Burgos, wielka wielbicielka świata starożytnego, odwiedziła liczne włoskie miasta, takie jak Neapol, Pompeje, Rzym, Florencja, Wenecja czy Mediolan, pozostawiając na piśmie swoje refleksje i wrażenia. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza obrazu Włoch przedstawionego przez autorkę, omówienie realiów, na których się skupia, oraz aspektów, które wyróżnia podczas swojej podróży po tych terenach.

Spanish writer Carmen de Burgos, also known as "Colombine", was not only a journalist and war correspondent, but also a great traveler interested in discovering other countries and cultures. Among her journeys through Europe, her first trip through France and Italy—which she made between 1905 and 1906 and documented in her work "Viajes por Europa. Impresiones"—stands out. Carmen de Burgos, a great admirer of the ancient world, visited various Italian cities such as Naples, Pompeii, Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan, leaving behind her written reflections and impressions. The aim of this article is to analyze the image of Italy presented by the author, discussing which realities she focuses on and what aspects she highlights from her travels through these territories.

La escritora española Carmen de Burgos, conocida también como "Colombine", fue no solo periodista y reportera de guerra, sino también una gran viajera interesada en conocer otros países y culturas. Entre sus travesías por Europa destaca su primer viaje por Francia e Italia que realizó entre los años 1905-1906 y que quedó plasmado en su obra "Viajes por Europa. Impresiones". Carmen de Burgos, gran admiradora del mundo antiguo, recorrió diversas ciudades italianas como Nápoles, Pompeya, Roma, Florencia, Venecia o Milán dejando por escrito sus reflexiones y sensaciones. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la imagen que la autora presenta de Italia, comentando en qué realidades se centra y qué aspectos destaca de su viaje por estos territorios.
