Wystawa "Lary i Penaty. O budowaniu poczucia bezpieczeństwa w architekturze" opowiada o tym, jak ludzkość radzi sobie z niepokojami przy użyciu własnych domów i wnętrz. Stawia pytanie czy architektura wciąż jest w stanie zapewniać schronienie przed żywiołami, katastrofami i wojnami. Osadzona w polskiej tradycji, odnosi się do praktyk i rytuałów związanych z zapewnianiem poczucia bezpieczeństwa w architekturze jako zasobu przednowoczesnej, zbiorowej inteligencji. Widzi w nich praktyczną i uniwersalną odpowiedź na lęki, zarówno te zakorzenione od wieków, jak i współczesne. Ekspozycja składała się z wielkogabarytowych obiektów-rzeźb, które wyróżniają się surowością formy i zaskakującym wykorzystaniem materiałów, zazwyczaj w budownictwie ukrywanych. Wystawa reprezentowała Polskę na Biennale Architektury w Wenecji - najbardziej prestiżowym przeglądzie współczesnej architektury na świecie. Tradycja Biennale Architektury w Wenecji sięga 1975 roku. Wydarzenie każdorazowo odwiedza niespełna 300 000 osób z całego świata. Projekt jest efektem pracy interdyscyplinarnej zespołu artystyczno-kuratorskiego w składzie: Aleksandra Kędziorek, Krzysztof Maniak, Katarzyna Przezwańska i Maciej Siuda.
Abstract EN
The exhibition "Lary and Penaty: On Building a Sense of Security in Architecture" explores how humanity copes with anxiety through the use of our own homes and interiors. It asks whether architecture is still capable of providing shelter from the elements, disasters, and wars. Rooted in Polish tradition, it addresses the practices and rituals associated with providing a sense of security in architecture as a resource of pre-modern, collective intelligence. It sees them as a practical and universal response to fears, both centuries-old and contemporary. The exhibition consisted of large-scale sculptural objects distinguished by their austerity of form and surprising use of materials typically concealed in construction. The exhibition represented Poland at the Venice Architecture Biennale – the most prestigious showcase of contemporary architecture in the world. The Venice Architecture Biennale's tradition dates back to 1975. Each event attracts nearly 300,000 visitors from around the world. The project is the result of the interdisciplinary work of an artistic and curatorial team composed of Aleksandra Kędziorek, Krzysztof Maniak, Katarzyna Przezwańska and Maciej Siuda.
