Ballet, often perceived as a feminised art, exudes its magic throughthe predominantly female performers who bring its enchantingnarratives to life. Despite this, the leadership landscape within theballet world does not mirror the prevalence of women on stage. This article delves into the intricacies of the traditional career tra-jectory in ballet within the Polish context, tracing the journey fromschool to theatre, pedagogical studies, and often back to school, asteachers. By examining power relations, entrenched practices, andprevailing beliefs within the ballet industry, the article sheds lighton the mechanisms that contribute to the formation of a self-perpetuating autopoiesis loop. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research reveals a glaring lack of female leadership in ballet, hindering women’s progression as choreographers. This, in turn, perpetuates a significant void of female perspectives within balletnarratives, thereby shaping a non-feminised ballet heritage whichin turn creates a certain perspective within ballet education. Thearticle delves into various cultural factors influencing the socio-economic landscape of ballet labour market in Poland. It seeks tounravel the complex web of factors contributing to the genderdisparity. In conclusion, the article calls for transformative measuresto reshape the autopoiesis loop, creating a more empoweringenvironment for women in Polish ballet.
