Doświadczenia osób transpłciowych w korzystaniu z usług ochrony zdrowia

dc.abstract.enIntroduction: Transgender people experience many challenges when seeking help and entering the gender affirming treatment. Despite the existing Standards of Care prepared by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the Recommendations of the Polish Society of Sexology, quantitative research indicates many irregularities in the way help is provided. This study aims to explore the experiences of transgender people in contact with health care providers. Material and methods: Fifteen participants, aged between 13 and 43 years, took part in the study. Participants sent descriptions of their experiences to an email address created for the study. The Thematic Analysis method was used to analyse the data. Results: The analysis identified two main thematic areas that may have a direct impact on the evaluation of the experiences: the attitude of professionals and the attitude of patients. The attitude of professionals is related to the level of knowledge about gender incoungrence and the subjective (or not) approach to the patient. The attitude of transgender people is related to submissiveness or a desire for autonomy in the doctor-patient relationship. Conclusions: Health care providers who works with transgender people should be aware of the importance of education in this area and how their attitudes affect the evaluation of transgender people’s experiences and their wellbeing
dc.abstract.plWstęp: Osoby transpłciowe mają przed sobą wiele wyzwań w trakcie szukania pomocy oraz podczas wchodzenia na medyczną ścieżkę tranzycji. Pomimo istniejących Standardów Opieki przygotowanych przez World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) oraz Zaleceń Polskiego Towarzystwa Seksuologicznego badania ilościowe wskazują na wiele nieprawidłowości w sposobie udzielania pomocy. Niniejsze badanie ma na celu eksplorację doświadczeń osób transpłciowych w kontakcie z osobami świadczącymi usługi ochrony zdrowia. Materiał i metody: W badaniu wzięło udział 15 osób w wieku od 13 do 43 lat. Osoby badane przesyłały opisy swoich doświadczeń na utworzony na potrzeby badania adres e-mail. Do analizy danych wykorzystano metodę Analizy Tematycznej. Wyniki: Analiza wyłoniła dwa główne obszary tematyczne, które mogą mieć bezpośredni wpływ na ocenę doświadczeń, czyli postawa specjalistów oraz postawa pacjentów. Postawa specjalistów odnosi się do poziomu wiedzy dotyczącej transpłciowości oraz sposobu traktowania osoby pacjenckiej, natomiast postawa osób transpłciowych może charakteryzować się uległością lub dążeniem do autonomii w relacji lekarz-pacjent. Wnioski: Osoby świadczące usługi z zakresu ochrony zdrowia osobom transpłciowym powinny być świadome istotności edukacji w tym zakresie, a także tego, jak ich postawa wpływa na ocenę doświadczeń i dobrostan osób transpłciowych.
